The Home Shopping Process
One of the most enjoyable parts of my job as your real estate agent is to make the home shopping process pleasant and rewarding for you.
There are a few ways I do this.
When we first meet, I will walk you through a process that will help us dial in exactly what you are looking for in your dream home.
I will then recommend properties for viewing that closely match your needs and wants and are within your price range. This is to minimize the frustration of visiting homes that aren’t suitable.
I will comb the listings and utilize my network so that when a desirable home suddenly comes on the market, you’re alerted.
I’ll schedule viewings that fit your schedule and are convenient for you.
When you are ready to view a home, I will provide you with in-depth details such as market value, closing dates and specific property details so you can make an informed decision. When you have other questions, I will get the answers you are looking for.
I will also provide information on the neighbourhood, to give you a clear sense of what an area is like in terms of lifestyle, safety, schools, etc.
When you find a property you like, I give you my honest, professional recommendation as to how well the home meets your needs and wants. You won’t have to make such an important decision without my expert advice.
I am committed to getting you into the right home and making sure you are comfortable and well informed every step of the way.
What to Look for When Viewing Your Potential Home
Here are a few things to consider when viewing homes to make the process easier and more productive:
- Which of your needs does the home meet? Which features that you are really looking for does it offer? For example, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, amount of closet space, kitchen size, appliances etc.
- Which of your wants does the home have? Those features that you think would be nice to have. For example, large backyard deck, spacious family room, etc.
- What is the general condition of the home? How have the owners kept up with repairs and maintenance?
- What major repairs, remodeling or renovations does the home need? What major appliances might need to be replaced such as the furnace?
- What do you like most about the home, take the time to write down some detailed points?
- What do you see about the home that you don’t like? Ask yourself if it could be changed with remodeling or renovation now or in the future.
- It’s a great idea to take a walk around the neighborhood. Ask yourself if the homes are well-kept, indicating pride of ownership and a sense of community?
- How do you feel about where the home is situated in the neighbourhood?
- What does the neighbourhood have that you want? For example, access to public transit, shopping, local parks, etc.
Viewing homes can be a fun, engaging and exciting process. I’m here to make the process easy and productive for you.
